Excavation and demolition in Marysville

Snohomish County

Marysville is the far north end of what we cover. Like Olympia, it is far enough that we plan the work in longer stretches rather than short visits.

The ground in Marysville

The south end of the city is delta ground along the sloughs — soft, wet, and with the water table at or near the surface. Anything deep there needs shoring and often dewatering, and that is a different number from the same footage on firm ground.

North and east the land rises onto firmer till with larger parcels, more standing timber and more clearing work before the digging starts.

Smokey Point at the top end is flat, open and still being built out, so it is pad preparation and utility runs rather than removal.

Areas we work in Marysville

Access and terrain change a job more than anything else does. These are the parts of Marysville we get called to and what each one usually means for the work.

Downtown and Ebey Slough
Low delta ground. Soft and wet, and the schedule has to allow for shoring on anything below a few feet.
Smokey Point
Flat, open ground with room to stage. Pad prep and utility trenching rather than teardowns.
Sunnyside and Getchell
Larger rural parcels, mostly wooded. Clearing and stump removal is usually the bulk of the job.
The Lake Stevens edge
Sloping ground east of the city where access and the order of the cut matter more than volume.
West of I-5 toward the bay
Low ground near the water. Drainage drives the sequence and dewatering is a real line item.
